On Wednesday 2nd July instead of our usual Elder’s Meeting we Elders went to the Area Gathering at Kingston U.R.C. This was a very well organised and well attended affair. It was good to be part of the lusty hymn singing and join various groups for study on various topics. I attended Pastoral Care and others attended one about use of the buildings called “Rich tea, Pews and Paint” It was good to meet up with people from the other U.R.C’s in the District. There is to be another such gathering in the Autumn. I could not write my report without saying something about the last Church Meeting. I know Tom Lockett has written a report about the details, but I would like to add my thanks to those of you who attended. I thought it was a very good meeting and I really felt the excitement in the air. I appreciate that we have many hurdles to jump before we know that anything is definite, but I am sure if we have enough faith great things will happen. We have come a long way on our “Journey of Discovery” and have discovered what we would like built on our site, now we need patience and determination to see it through and lots of prayers as well, of course. During next month there will be a joint outing with our friends at Ewell to Amberley Working Museum near Arundel. There will be a notice in the foyer to sign if you would like to go. Also, Pat and Peter will be holding their annual Garden Party. August also sees a lull in some of the weekly meetings. The Brownies, Guides and Toddler’s Group will have a summer break. I hope they have a good holiday with some sunshine and return ready for another session. I know most of us take our holidays at different times of the year, but if you are going away in August do have a good rest and come back refreshed.
