Visit to Cherkley Court and Gardens

This year the Evening Fellowship outing was to Cherkley Court, property of the Beaverbrook Foundation and overlooking the Mole Valley. Cherkley Court stands in 400 acres of park, gardens and woodlands and has been recently renovated. The house itself is not open to general public viewing, but the Orangery contains Tea Rooms which extend on to a terrace.

Relaxing in the gardens of Cherkley Court

Thursday, 24th July was a beautiful day, and seventeen members, including Lynne and Judith with Sue and Claire, made up the party organised by Gwyneth. After a very casual stroll around the terraced grounds, some of us were given a short talk by a guide who told us the history and workings of the place. We then all made our way to the Orangery where we were able to sit in the cool and we each had a welcome pot of tea and piece of delicious cake of our choice.

That welcome cuppa.

Another wander around the gardens and a look at the grotto and we all made our way home having enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in very pleasant surroundings.
