News of the Family

Group chattingIt has been so good to have Phemie worshipping with us these past few Sundays. She was also at the Coffee Morning and the Cream Tea! We know she is to be admitted to Kingston Hospital again, where she is to have an operation. Our thoughts are with her.
Alan admits to feeling a bit tired now and again, especially soon after the chemo sessions, (and light-headed, says Val!) but he is busy keeping up with his special tasks, and more!
Doris Swan has had the ankle plaster removed, and is getting around with the aid of a Zimmer, but unfortunately is still in considerable pain and discomfort. We hope she may soon be more comfortable.
It was good to have Dorothy and Frank Dobby with us at the Cream Tea afternoon.
Phyl Cary nobly carries on with her many duties, but she is not in good health just now. We hope she may be feeling better soon.
We have missed Paula these past few Sundays while she has been resting, but just recently she has had a fall, somewhat damaging her left side. We wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her again soon.
Sheila Carpenter has had a mild stroke, and is in Britten Ward at Epsom General Hospital. We wish her well and a speedy return.
Marjorie and Ann were with us recently – it was good to see them.
Lynne so much misses coming to join us on Sunday mornings and we miss her, too. In this warmer weather perhaps it would be possible to arrange for her to come from time to time?
We congratulate Ceri and Susan on their Ruby Wedding Anniversary today, 29th June.
Many congratulations, too, to Pamela Galliers on being awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, for her services to fostering over many years. This award is so richly deserved. Read Pamela’s story on page 16.
It was a delight to have Allan Healey at the organ last Sunday. Can it really be all those years ago – mid 70s to mid 80s – that he was our organist! He remains as delightful to be with as always. It is hard to accept that he is now retired! Happy Retirement, Allan!!
Congratulations to Michael who has just heard that his success in his recent first-year exams has earned him a Scholarship for his second year. He is doing a four-year course in Acoustical Engineering at Southampton Uni.
