Mary Hallifax 1916-2008

Mary Hallifax transferred her Church membership from Reading URC, where she was an elder, to Epsom URC some years ago.

At that time Mary had moved to Epsom to be near her sister-in-law and took up residence at Homelea care home. She liked to attend Church as often as possible and as well as being generous to the Church took an interest in all the goings on.

After leaving school she trained to be a physiotherapist and worked her way up to be a physiotherapy tutor. She took a special interest in children with cerebral palsy.

Mary had many interests including country walks, her favourite magazine being the ‘Countryman,’ music, mainly classical, and embroidery. The needlework she did was really fine crewel work, but as is so often the case had to give much of her work to charity shops when she moved to the care home.

Mary died at the Red House nursing home in Ashtead on Monday, 22nd September.  Her funeral will be at Randalls Park Crematorium, Leatherhead, on Wednesday 1st October at 4.15 p.m.

To her family we send our prayers and condolences.
