Mary Hallifax died on Monday, 22nd September. For so long, with Phemie’s support, she attended Morning Service regularly, but for some time has been confined in nursing homes. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, 1st October, at Randall’s Park Crematorium, at 4:15 p.m. Phemie has written a piece about Mary.
Marjorie Thomson was taken to Epsom Hospital last Sunday. Her condition is improving.
Both Phyl Cary and Joe Wilson are at their homes again from spells in Leatherhead and Epsom Hospitals. They are both looking better and we hope the improvements may be maintained.
Alan has this week had another treatment – only one more to go, in three weeks’ time – when we hope that the chemotherapy will have proved really successful.
It has been good to have Phemie with us when possible, for worship, and at coffee mornings, etc. Soon she will be meeting with a consultant to discuss and assess the next suggested approach.
George has made a very successful recovery from his torn retina operation, and we hope his appointment at Moorfields’ Hospital next week will confirm that all is well.
Doris and Archie had a week at Eastbourne recently, which included a few days of the lovely September weather we all enjoyed.
Sheila Carpenter has had a few days in Cromer, and was then going for a train tour around Inverness. She hopes to be playing again around the end of October. We will look forward to seeing Sheila again soon.
To Sonia, and Dorothy and Frank, together with all those named above, we remember you in our prayers and with our love.
Rev. Arthur Macarthur
The death occurred on 1st September at the age of 94 of the Rev. Arthur Macarthur who with the Rev. John Huxtable, oversaw the union of the Presbyterian and Congegational Churches to form the United Reformed Church in the early 1970s. A cutting from the Guardian is displayed on the notice board in the foyer for those who would like to read it.
