We certainly have a lot to think about at present and thanks to those who attended the Church Meeting and joined in the discussion on “Our Future”. I think the feeling of the meeting was that we cannot remain on our own, (for too many reasons to mention here) and joining with another congregation might be the answer. The Elders of Epsom and Ewell U.R.Cs. have a joint meeting on 31st March for some preliminary discussions and also to discuss Pat and Peter’s leaving Service and Party.
The Elders then have a meeting with our Moderator, Nigel Uden, on 12th May, to see the way forward for both Churches, whether it be together or apart. This is obviously going to be a lengthy process and will need much thought and heart-searching.
On the subject of the re-development you will all know that the plans have been withdrawn at the Council’s suggestion, as there were too many objections for them to go forward for planning permission. The Steering Committee and Elders have a meeting on 27th March with Guy Morfitt, the Property Manager from Synod, to discuss the way forward and the financial situation. You can see from this that all the office-bearers are fully occupied at this time and will need patience, tolerance and a lot of faith. Please think of them in your prayers that together we will find a way forward and a vision for the future. Away from Church matters, on a personal note George and I are getting excited about our trip to Australia, and seeing the family again. It seems a long time since the last trip and our granddaughter is counting how many “sleeps” till we arrive. We shall be away over the Easter period, in fact the whole of April and the first week in May. If you need any assistance please contact your Elder who will be only too pleased to help.
We wish you all a Blessed Easter.
Sheila.
