Family Day

The weather was very hot when we arrived at Hessle Top, so we sat down together in the garden to eat our picnic lunch. There were only 17 of us but we all made the most of the opportunity to relax in the sunshine. After lunch we were treated to a very welcome bowl of ice cream.

Later the ladies of the Women’s Church Council served us with cups of tea and a grand variety of fruit-breads and cakes.

After we had finished our refreshments it was time to move into the shade where possible, ready for the epilogue, which was led by Gwyneth and Pippa. There was a short reading, and a prayer before we all sang the Doxology together.

Our grateful thanks go to all our hosts, Jock, Evelyn, Phyllis and Rebel for their very kind hospitality for the afternoon. The weather had been wonderful for this year’s Family Day and it was an extremely happy occasion.
