It seems a lifetime ago since I wrote my report in Australia. We certainly enjoyed our visit and it was lovely to s ee the family looking so well and settled, but enough of my personal news!!
You will have heard from reports at Church and Church Meeting that the Elders from both Ewell and Epsom have met with our Moderator, Rev. Nigel Uden. He assured us of his support during the coming vacancy and wants to begin discussions about our future as soon as possible. As he sees it, there are a few options available and each one will need to be pursued thoroughly and carefully. In the meantime he will either appoint an Interim Moderator or Interim Minister to look after us. He was very encouraged by the joint events, meetings and Services that we share with Ewell and hoped they will continue. Nigel was to attend a meeting of the Pastoral Committee the following day when he would explain our situation. To date I do not have any further information, but I will of course keep you all informed when there is any further news.
This, I believe, will be Pat’s last Newsletter before she officially leaves us, and I know we shall all have a chance to say our farewells. On that note I do hope you will be able to attend both the Services on 21st June and the Social occasion on 27th June. Don’t forget – if you need transport for any of these events please let me know. We wish Pat and Peter safe journeys and hope that their new life back in Canada will be happy. We shall miss them, and we will especially miss Pat’s pastoral work amongst us. Her care and visiting skills have been much appreciated by us all.
In the next coming months we are going to have to support and care for each other, so if you have any needs, or problems or are worried about anything please let your Elder know and he or she will be only too pleased to help if at all possible.
