12th Epsom Brownie Guide Pack

It was very nice to have some Brownies and their families at our Harvest Festival, and well done to the two Brownies who read for us. The girls enjoyed seeing the film with the ducks and making their loaves of bread.

At the last meeting in September the theme for the evening was ‘trees’ and the Brownies identified various trees from their leaves; they also each made and decorated a pair of binoculars for themselves. The following week we were hoping to replenish the troughs, but the weather was so bad it was not possible. The topic for the evening was Brownie Traditions and at the beginning of the meeting the Brownies did their best to learn the words of and sing both verses of the National Anthem. They learnt about the formation of the Brownies and designed a uniform they would like to wear.

Anne Richardson came to help us with the troughs at the next meeting and it was also National Poetry Day. The Brownies brought in some of their favourite poems to read to us and then they made up some poems of their own. You can see a selection of these printed in this newsletter. For our meeting before the half term holiday the theme was ‘stargazing’, and the girls made their own pictures of three constellations and the planets.

The Brownies are hoping to go carol singing for charity at Epsom Station on 2nd December from 5.30 p.m. to 6 30 p.m. and we hope that if you happen to be passing through you will be generous.
