Women's Church Council

With the celebration of Harvest on Sunday, the WCC will be decorating the church on Saturday, and we thank the helpers who give us such valued help and encouragement.

The September Coffee Morning for the Surrey Air Ambulance Service realised a very worthy response and we thank you for your continued support.

Our October Coffee Morning will be on Tuesday, 13th, in the Longhurst Room, 10:30 – 12:00. As always for October, the occasion is for WCC funds. By coming to support us you help to provide for Christmas cards, gifts, etc., to a large number of friends. We remember those still at the church, those unable to be with us and a number who have moved away – yet we still keep in contact year by year. Do please help us continue this vital contact.

Sunday Floral arrangements Flowert Arrangement
From the WCC

For many years now Peggy Wilson has faithfully seen to the flowers displayed in the church each Sunday, and we would like to thank her very much for this service. It is now more difficult or Peggy to continue with this labour of love, and there need to be new arrangements.

Some people choose to provide flowers to mark special occasions in their family, e.g., a birthday or a wedding anniversary, or in memory of someone dear. They may arrange the flowers themselves or, in the past, have provided money and asked Peggy to arrange the flowers for them. We are all very grateful.

We are now appealing for people who would be willing to arrange the flowers on a rota basis: there are at present four of us and, with extra help, it would mean that we are not doing it so often.

The original Flower Fund has now been exhausted, and proceeds from the recent Cream Tea have been used to kick-start the fund. We will be providing a collection box in the foyer for anyone to make a donation to boost the resources. Flowers, according to season, usually cost between £10 and £15 each week; this can be reclaimed if you wish to join the rota.

It may be necessary to provide artificial flowers on some occasions, but I am sure that you would agree that fresh flowers look so much nicer, and they can be given or sent to members of the congregation, perhaps house-bound, to enjoy after the service each Sunday.
