Churches Together in Epsom

Firstly business, which included the Treasurer reporting that all churches had paid their dues and the account stood at £1473;90. We have a new treasurer in Alan Payne.

The report of the Vision Group included a review of communications. There was also the Good Friday Act of Witness, somewhat affected by rain. The little drama would have been best on a raised stage. Coffee at the Methodists afterwards raised £80 for Christian Aid.

Women's World Day of Prayer on March 5th was somewhat different this year, with a service only in the morning, with an Afternoon-Evening session of study and prayers. Lent Talks was also different, consisting of a major meeting with speaker in five different churches. Comment was that the talks were good but hardly a substitute for Study Groups. The Ministers are now meeting every week for Prayer at St. Barnabas, midday.

"Meet the Neighbours Sunday" on 13th September or thereabouts. It was suggested that this time round churches selected their own dates for visitation and so not all on one day.

There will be a United Prayer Week at St. Barnabas, September 12 to 19th, Get Organised!

St. Barnabas have celebrated their Centenary, 7 -11th June, with a visit from the Bishop.

Mental Health Week is 4th -10th October.

Regrettably ‘Sunday in the Park’ did not happen this year. But it will be put on the next agenda. Most other significant dates for summer have come and gone.

NEXT MEETING. Tuesday September 15th 2009 at St. Joseph's at 8.00 p.m., following the short service at 7.30 pm.
