Our Volunteer Guide

Reading through the 6th August edition of the local Guardian, I read the headline ‘Guide flies out to help African Aids orphans’.  Reading on I discovered that seventeen-year-old Louisa Byrne, who is a guide with the 12th Epsom Company, having gone through several selection procedures, had been awarded a place to go to South Africa to care for children orphaned by Aids or by violence.  She managed to raise £2,500 to fund the trip with the help and support of family, friends, the community and Forester’s Friends Society.

Had we in the church known about this, I’m sure we would have been only to pleased to help out with her sponsorship!

We all wish her well in this very excellent venture.
