Dear Friends;
Apparently you are having unusual weather over there! Well, we are too, although perhaps not quite as dramatic. Although we have had a few cold weeks, the temperatures throughout most of January have been ranging from lows of -20 to highs of +5, and anything in between. Most of our snow has melted and the streets are filthy dirty! Perhaps you have heard of the lack of snow at Whistler where the Olympic skiing takes place in a few weeks.
After much paperwork, and interviews in Winnipeg on 8th December, I was given permission to work once again in the United Church of Canada. I am now working half time with Third Avenue United Church, a congregation in the city centre, while their minister is on sick leave. I am into my second week so am still learning the ropes. It is a large Gothic structure with a shrinking and aging congregation. My duties are to be at the church Tuesday-Friday 9-12, and to take about 2 services per month, and some pastoral care, as well as funerals should they come up.
Peter hopes to be working soon, as well. He continues to have problems with sciatica, but hope is on the horizon, with intensive physio.
I have not forgotten any of you, and hope that you are managing with your severe winter. Just think, soon the daffodils will be coming up!
Best wishes to all of you.
Pat
