The Coffee Morning in May was in aid of the Surrey Air Ambulance Service for which the good total of £150 was raised.
The next Coffee Morning will be on and the chosen charity for that appeal is the Alzheimer’s Society.
Now, some news of a merger that may have passed you by: on 1st April 2009, Age Concern England and Help the Aged united to create a new charity dedicated to improving later life for everyone. As of April 2010, this new and larger charity became known as Age UK. Also the three national Age Concerns in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales have merged with Help the Aged in these nations to form three registered charities: Age Scotland, Age NI, and Age Cymru. Without bothering to ask why there’s not a charity called Age England, we would like to give advance notice that the Coffee Morning on 13th July will be in aid of Age UK.
There will not be a Coffee Morning in August.
Now, a word about our Flower Rota. Don’t forget to sign up on the list for your special commemorative days. May we also remind you that the box for contributions to the Flower Fund is kept on the foyer table.
