12th Epsom Brownie Guides
|
The Girlguiding Movement is celebrating one hundred years of Guiding this year, and there are lots of activities for the Brownies to do to celebrate this, one being to make up the number 100 in a variety of ways. So on 10th February the girls made up the number ‘100’ in biscuits and decorated them. The Brownies also made Valentine’s Day cards and Danish baskets which had packets of chocolate buttons put in them.

It was also Katie’s last evening with us and the parents and District Commissioners were invited to come for the presentation of card and farewells gifts. Some of the Brownies had written their own messages to Katie and these were put with some photographs and other memorabilia into a display album. We also gave her a ceramic Brownie mug and a £35 Book Token which we hope she can use to help her in her role as Rainbow Guider in Fetcham. We were all very sorry that she had decided to leave us, but we wished her well for the future.
Our first meeting after half term was a celebration of Thinking Day and of the Chinese New Year. Our collection for the Girlguiding Thinking Day Charity raised £17.80p.
The Chinese New Year activities included a Chinese New Year Horoscope word search, the making of lucky red packets, which had two chocolate coins placed in them, the making of tiger masks, denoting the year of the tiger and the ever-popular eating of prawn crackers.
