Thank you to all of you who shopped in Waitrose during December and dropped their token into the Guide container.
The Guides are to be presented with a cheque worth £510. Which means we did very well indeed. This money will go towards a new tent and a treat for the Guides...which they haven't decided on yet!
Over the past few months the guides have enjoyed a pizza and pyjama party. The patrols have made newspaper rickshaws, made, tossed and eaten pancakes, and they have also made slime! The Guides enjoyed a line dancing session which was the last of the sessions we ‘bought’ with the 2009 Sainsbury's vouchers. We are now collecting Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers again. There is a box in the Church foyer for all your unwanted vouchers. The Guides will be very grateful for all your voucher donations.
In the middle of February, over 150 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and their leaders attended the Epsom Division Thinking Day Celebrations. This was held at St Martin’s Church. The girls took part in the colour party, parading their unit flags. Three of our Guides also participated in the parade of uniforms from the past 100 years.
I was also very proud to be presented with my 30-year Service Award. All 30 years have been with the 12th Epsom Guides!!!!!!!
During the Easter Holidays ‘Girlguiding Epsom’ have a display at Bourne Hall Museum of the past 100 years of Guiding. We are looking for the loan of photos, badges, books and other items of Guiding memorabilia for the display. If you have any items that you could loan for the display please contact me as soon as possible. I am willing to collect or you could give to Valerie Wood. Great care will be taken of anything loaned to us. Please identify the items in some way and also write a short piece about the item, such as when it is from, what it is, and why it was presented to you.
