I hope that the recordings that are available on the website are proving useful. Let me know what you think, ple ase.
There have been a few changes recently, which regular auditors (as opposed to viewers) will have noticed; these have been made possible following experiments on file-compression enabling recordings of over an hour to be contained on one file.
The excerpts of Lynne’s Service of Thanksgiving, which occupied four of the available five files have been removed, and replaced by the whole service on one file.
David Mugridge provided me with a copy of the recording on a cassette of Nigel Uden’s service at Ewell on 21st February: I was able to copy this and add it to the website.
And Daphne’s son-in-law, Andrew, lent me a copy of his recording of the Service of Thanksgiving for Pam, held at their church in Nottingham. I copied this, to find when I had finished that it was too long, at 1¼ hours ; I have added this, but in two files, of 35 and 40 minutes in length.
And I’ve still got one file left for Helen Thorne on Sunday!
It is my intention to keep Services of Thanksgiving available for about a month, giving people plenty of time to listen; Sunday morning services would generally be up for one or two weeks, before they get supplanted by a later service recording. I hope that people are content with that arrangement.
The downside of compressing files is the loss of detail. However, it appears to me that the quality of the recording is adequate for most purposes, and if people want to hear the original, they can always ask me for a copy – I may be able to oblige!
