Many of you will know that George and I spent a week in Devon recently with our daughter, fiancé and son. We had a wonderful time with beautiful weather; there was only one day when the sun did not shine. The hedgerows and countryside were so pretty, full of primroses and violets and the leaves on the trees were just beginning to burst into that beautiful fresh green. We did attempt to put our feet into the North Atlantic Ocean but, my, was it cold!! There is something wonderful about this country in the Spring which makes one feel glad to be alive. We also found “The Anchor”, that served great fish dishes and was just a short walk along a country lane from the caravan site where we were staying.
Now back home again, I have just returned from a meeting with the Secretaries from Ewell and Tolworth. We have between us completed the “Pastorate Profile Summary” which completes the Profile. This will be sent to the Moderator for his approval and attached to the main profile and eventually sent to any prospective candidate. One section asks for a Personal Specification for Prospective Minister: this is only a summary and had to be brief. The following is the text which I hope you feel expresses the views and needs of Epsom, Ewell and Tolworth:
“Someone who will share their faith; inspire us on our faith journey; and attract other people to join us. To lead the Churches’ outreach and involvement in an all-age community.”
We hope and pray that it will not be too long before we hear something positive.
Christian Aid is the next event on the calendar. Do make every effort to come to the Quiz Night and Fish and Chip Supper on Saturday, 8th May, in Unity Hall. These are always really enjoyable evenings, all the details are in this Newsletter and on the poster in the church. As we can no longer take part in the House-to-House collections this is our main fund raising event so we need a good number to make it worthwhile. Look forward to seeing you there!.
