Letter from the Elders - Pamela Galliers
|
As I write this, Sheila and George will be settling into their new home in Stone, Staffordshire. We all wish them well and hope that they will soon be part of their new community. Sheila and George have given so much to this church over the years, like their parents before them, and will certainly be much missed. There is a tribute to them elsewhere in this NewsLetter. As we are all aware, there are some difficult times ahead for the church and we must all work together to the best of our abilities and the few resources we have available for its good. Sadly many of us are elderly and less able than we were but each one still important in the church’s future. The Task Group set up with three members each from the Epsom and Ewell URCs met on 24th September to look at the starting point on which discussions could be based to produce a Scheme of Union for the two churches. It is hoped that their conclusions can be reported back in 6-12 months. Please pray for this group, which will be facing painful and spiritual questioning over the next few months which will affect us all. May the group be working together for the Glory of God. We have celebrated our Harvest Festival and hope we can raise a good result for the charity ‘Impact’. The people affected by the recent and ongoing floods in Pakistan are all in desperate need, just to survive on a daily basis. ‘Impact’ is already working on the ground in the flooded areas, and will know the best resources to help these people survive to rebuild their lives in the future. The Elders have been appointed different tasks in order to cover the secretary’s duties, and we must all work to see that the church moves forward at this time. God Bless You All. |
