Churches Together in Epsom
|
The meeting at St. Barnabas was preceded by a procession with a candle for each church represented. Then each candle-holder prayed for his/her own church. After coffee the work began.
We always spend some time reviewing the past months' activities:
-
Some of the reporters said we seem to have carried out what we usually do, but felt that this was not enough.
-
During Christian Aid Week we did not have so many visitors to the tent.
-
Some organisations are trying to progress and to modernize events, for example, the Women's World Day of Prayer.
-
We were not altogether satisfied with the material we used this year for Lent. The written material did not go deep enough. So Adrian Esdaile is busy writing his own for 2011 and is well on to the detail for each week.
-
Many churches have some form of ALPHA group, but some do have reservations about it.
-
The Vision Group have been working hard, trying to look ahead as to what the future needs and in what form. Even the Ministers' Bi-Monthly meeting said that they did not always know what to pray for.
-
One could not help the feeling that many groups were aware of deficiences. But we are not thinking radically enough, and because we feel that Christ wants to take us into a New World, with new ways of thinking and doing things for the Kingdom.
So please pray for the next meeting at 7.30 p.m. on Monday. 13th September and. if possible, come yourself. It is an open meeting, and will be held at our church in the Longhurst Room.
