The New Church Address List

I’m sorry to hit you with this on Census Day – as if you hadn’t got enough to do, and losing an hour due to BST!

As you may have heard, I have been asked to revise and update the church Address List. It is intended that this new list will be presented on one sheet of double-sided A3, folded to A4 size. Names and contact details of members and adherents will be shown on the inside pages; the front page will contain information about the church, i.e. address, telephone no., and website details, and a list of the Elders’ Groups. The back page will show the Church Officers, Representatives to Community Organisation, and Other Jobs, all as agreed at the Church AGM.

You may be puzzled about the two narrow columns after the telephone number. Well, let me remove your puzzlement! The first column contains either an M (for Member) or A (for Adherent), and is used for ease of counting up the number of each group for the Annual Return, etc. Or maybe we don’t know, in which case please tell me on the card!

The second has information pertaining to members of sub-groups in the church and are listed here:

S = Serving Elder

N = Non-serving Elder

F = Finance and General Purposes Committee member

W = Women’s Church Council member

Some addresses will have two entries on the list. This happens when one person has different data from the other, e.g. membership of different sub-groups. When this happens, please check both sets of data.

To ensure the accuracy of the data, a card is being distributed to each address on the current list, so that each person can check the data to be shown. We also ask that you add any further information you would like to be shown, such as mobile telephone numbers and email addresses. When you are happy with the card and the information shown, please sign and date it and return it to me. If you have any queries, please ask.

The sooner you get the cards back to me, the sooner I can issue the new Address List. Thank you.
