Letter from the Elders

Dear Friends Isn’t it just wonderful to have Heather with us now, already leading services, introducing new music and a fresh look at worship, chairing meetings, visiting the various clubs and activities in the churches and joining us at choir practice, not to mention attending trainings and Synod Days. It was a privilege to be at Synod in Worthing when Heather was presented to the Moderator. You will be pleased to know that things are ‘moving’ on the Manse front. It will, in all probability, be vacated in December so by the time the house has been rewired and decorated, hopefully Heather and her family will be moving home into the ‘Maxi-Manse’ early in the New Year. We do admire the way they have coped with the temporary living arrangements and travelling up and down the motorway in order to be with us. Christmas Services are mentioned elsewhere in the Newsletter. We consider ourselves blessed that Heather is able to lead a Midnight Service (23.30) on 24th in Epsom, when she has so many commitments in the Pastorate. It is a while since we had a Midnight Service in our church, so do come if you can and bring your visitors, too, to help us celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our combined ‘Carols by Candlelight’ Service will be at 17.30 on Sunday 18th December, followed by festive refreshments in Unity Hall. We look forward to welcoming you there. Thanks go in advance to Neil and Wendy Stuart for once again decorating the church with the beautiful candelabra and the Advent wreath. It is always so festive and much appreciated by all our members and visitors. After the last rather hectic months we look forward to having a spiritual peace and freshness in the life of the Church during Advent and Christmas and as we welcome in 2012. We send love and best wishes to you all for a Happy Christmas and a bright New Year. |
