Evangelism
|
Just a reminder Evangelism is telling people Good news. It is not trying to get people into church. It is telling them about the good things IN YOUR EXPERIENCE about being a Christian. It is telling them about the joy of being God’s child – of freedom from guilt – of living in God’s Kingdom here on earth – of God’s promise to all believers of everlasting life. We shall be exploring all of this in greater depth later in the year. You may find that people you talk to come up with a variety of excuses or doubts or questions that make it hard for them to take in the good news. There is a short book called “Searching questions” by Nicky Gumbel, with each chapter dealing with one of the 7 most common questions raised by people on Alpha courses. These are: Suffering Other religions Sex before marriage The New Age Homosexuality Science and Christianity and The Trinity. We are looking at each of these in the next seven evening communion services at Ewell although not necessarily in that order. We shall also be studying them in depth along with other aspects of evangelism in the Emmaus Group at Ewell at our Monday lunch time meetings. The Emmaus group is great fun and an opportunity to think through some of the issues of our faith in a relaxed and caring atmosphere. There is freedom to ask any questions – no matter how foolish you might think them – to take them seriously and to listen to other people’ experiences. We meet at 12.15 each Monday in the Ship Rooms with “bring your own” lunch (drinks provided) and move into our programme activities from 12.24 – 2.15. All are welcome and especially anyone from Epsom who would like to join in. Have a word with me if you would like to know more. Mike.Hensman
And from Rosemary: I could offer transport on some Mondays. |
