Sharing Sunday Services
|
We are very close to the start of the Six Month Joint Worship Trial. We hope by now you have all had the opportunity to discuss your views, concerns, and hopes with your own Elder. We all have one thing in common, and that is our interest in and love for the church. This trial period gives us some time to consider the future of the church and our futures in it, as we worship together with our friends from Ewell. Here are the arrangements which have been made: Services Starting on 6th February at Ewell, all morning and evening services will alternate between the churches There is a chart on the notice board (nearest to the kitchen) in Unity Hall. It shows where the services will be each week for the next six months, and the worship leaders where known. Rosemary will update the chart as information is available and Alan will put the usual programme of services in the Newsletter. Communion: This will be celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at Ewell and on alternate second Sundays at Epsom, i.e. March, May and July. Free Transport: On "Ewell Sundays" a taxi will pick up those on the list, from outside the front of the church at 10 a.m., to go to Ewell and will return to Epsom at midday. If anyone would like transport, please ask your Elder to put your name on the list. The Elders are anxious that we will all be able to get to Ewell for morning services and so the church is going to provide the transport. There will be nothing to pay. Offertory Envelopes: We may put our envelope in the collection bag at either church at morning or evening services and, because each church has its own colour, our envelopes will be brought back to Epsom. Flowers: Just a reminder that Pamela, our flower person, and Doreen from Ewell are working together on the rota. If you have a special date when you would like to provide flowers, please speak to Pamela We all know how difficult it is getting to keep both churches going with the limited human resources available and a reducing income and some changes have to be made. The joint evening services have alternated, most successfully, between the churches for several years and perhaps we might look at this 'trial period' as the next step. It is a big step, one that will take faith, courage and perseverance if it is to work. See this as our gift, our chance for refreshing and renewal of ourselves and the church, perhaps a new beginning. Let's accept this gift from God in both hands and trust and pray that we have a fruitful time together worshipping our Lord. I finish with a response from Geoffrey’s Sunday morning worship “Lord of the Church - Unite us in our love of Christ.” God bless us all. |
