12th Epsom Brownie Guide Pack
|
The Brownies all managed to gain their Gardener’s Badge, and the troughs outside the church are now looking very pretty. Despite all the Brownies doing the ‘Children with Leukaemia’ marathon challenge, only 8 girls brought in any sponsorship money which was very disappointing. Even so, they still managed to raise a total of £80 which will be divided between the Charity and our Brownie Pack. The theme for our first meeting after half term was ‘monsters’, and the girls had great fun drawing their own monsters, some of which have been printed in this Newsletter. For Fathers’ Day the Brownies made cards and chocolate truffles. For the following two weeks two representatives from the Red Cross came to teach the Brownies all about First Aid, and then to test them for their First Aid and Advanced First Aid badges. On 6th July the Brownies had an International evening and some of them brought in something they had got from abroad to show the other girls. They all then made origami gondolas and a cut-out cardboard doll that could be dressed in Polish National costume or as a Polish Brownie. Last Friday evening I went with nine of the brownies and a Mum to the Epsom camp site for some ‘summer fun’ along with other Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from the Epsom Division. The Brownies took part in a wide game then had a barbecue which was followed by singing around a camp fire. Wednesday, 13th July, was our last meeting before the summer holidays and this was a general games evening with refreshments. The girls all enjoyed the evening generally ‘letting off steam’. |
