Letter from the Elders
|
“He is Risen!” “He is Risen Indeed!” What a lovely Easter Day service we had last Sunday! The sun shone, the floral arrangements in the church were beautiful and, thanks to Donald Finnan, we were given yet another insight into the age-old story of that first Easter Morning and the Resurrection.
Having enjoyed this unusually hot weather for this time of year – let’s hope that this is not our summer! – I am sure that we are all feeling blessed. However, there are times in our lives when we feel sad, maybe neglected, or unworthy physically and emotionally tired and fearful: these are the days when we see through a glass darkly; but there are things in life which help us to see through into the light – the innocence of a child, the smile of friend or stranger, the comforting touch, the unexpected letter, email or ’phone call from a friend, or an inspiring piece of music. It is these things in life when we are able to know that the Lord is still with us in all his risen glory. [Editor’s Note: I have put two copies of Donald Finnan’s Easter Morning Service onto CD, so if you would like to hear it again, or for the first time, please let me know. Both copies are out at the moment, so I’ll start a Waiting List.] |
