"The Grapevine"
|
It frequently happens that when there is an important or urgent piece of church news to bring to people’s attention, somebody always gets forgotten. In this Internet Age, not everyone has email, not everyone reads the church website, so I thought we need to introduce a more pro-active method of communication. And we all have on: it’s called the TELEPHONE! My idea is that everybody should have three people to whom they undertake to pass on such a message. With sufficient cells, triads, clusters, call them what you will, any important or urgent news would get around The Grapevine very quickly. Now that the new Address List is almost ready for publication, an organiser could get details of your cell and ensure that everybody is covered and connected. Don’t assume that all news would start with the Elders and permeate out to infrequent attendees – it should work in any and all directions, to ensure that wherever a News Item starts, it should reach everybody. And, of course, any message should be brief and easily written down for onward transmission; we don’t want any possibility of ‘Chinese Whispers’! What do you think? I will promote this at the next Church Meeting on 19th May, so come along and have your say! |
